Beyond the Surface: Geophysics Meets Archaeology
Wherever you are, join the webinar online!
Geophysical surveys, using various methods, allow for the investigation of the subsurface of a given area by measuring specific physical properties from the Earth’s surface. By analyzing the spatial and temporal variations of these properties, it is possible to reconstruct the nature, dimensions, and depth of buried formations.
The Functional Unit of Geophysics for the Environment and Territory at INGV studies, tests, and applies the most advanced and effective terrestrial geophysical survey techniques—including geoelectrical, magnetic, and electromagnetic methods—to define and characterize subsurface structures, from the first few meters down to hundreds of meters in depth.
The main fields of application include environmental studies, archaeology, and territorial analysis. In archaeology, geophysical investigations are particularly focused on subsurface reconnaissance to identify buried anthropogenic structures such as tombs, necropolises, walls, floors, temples, and cisterns.
Participation in the webinar is free and open to all interested attendees. A certificate of participation will be issued.
The webinar will be held in Italian.
