Donate a Red Bench to the CGT: Expression of Interest Now Open

The CGT invites local businesses and associations to support the installation of a Red Bench, a powerful symbol in the fight against violence against women

The Centre of GeoTechnologies (CGT) of the University of Siena, in collaboration with the Municipality of San Giovanni Valdarno, is promoting an awareness-raising and civic engagement initiative aimed at combating gender-based violence.

An Expression of Interest has been published for businesses based in San Giovanni Valdarno and the surrounding area, as well as local associations and business networks, to support the creation and permanent donation of a Red Bench to be installed at the Centre of GeoTechnologies.

🔴 The Red Bench is a visible, everyday symbol of the fight against femicide and all forms of violence against women. The initiative is part of the activities organised in conjunction with the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, observed annually on 25 November.

Donation Requirements

The donation is intended to support the costs of manufacturing, transporting and installing the bench.

The amount of the financial contribution is at the donor’s discretion and may cover only part of the overall costs. Businesses, associations and other local organisations may therefore support the initiative either individually or jointly with other interested parties.

The bench must be red in colour, be suitable for outdoor use and resistant to weather conditions, comply with all applicable safety and quality regulations and be large enough to accommodate at least three people.

The operational arrangements for the manufacture, supply and installation of the bench will subsequently be agreed with the Centre for GeoTechnologies. Further details will be provided by the CGT once the collection of expressions of interest has been completed.

A commemorative plaque may be placed on the bench, featuring a meaningful message related to the International Day and the name of the donor or donors.

The organisations supporting the initiative will also be publicly acknowledged during the official inauguration ceremony, scheduled for 25 November 2026, and mentioned through the institutional communication channels of the Municipality of San Giovanni Valdarno and the University of Siena.
