Erasmus+ ICM Mobility for Georgia

The Erasmus+ ICM Mobility for Georgia project aims to facilitate the exchange of knowledge and experience between the University of Siena (UNISI) and Ilia State University (ISU), with a particular focus on teaching and research methodologies applied to the preservation of natural and cultural heritage. The planned activities include presentations and in-depth discussions aimed at strengthening existing academic collaborations while exploring new opportunities for joint research projects. A special emphasis is placed on slope stability analysis and palaeo-landscape reconstruction, key topics in environmental and cultural heritage preservation.

During the mobility program, seminars and workshops are conducted, focusing on the identification, documentation, and conservation of cultural heritage using advanced geomatics techniques such as remote sensing, drone photogrammetry, and terrestrial laser scanning. Innovative in-situ monitoring methods are also shared to address environmental and human threats to heritage sites.

Expected outcomes of the project include enhanced collaboration between the two institutions, the development of new joint research initiatives, and co-authored publications. The program also contributes to the professional development of academic staff, the exchange of innovative teaching practices, and increased opportunities for student engagement in research and conservation activities. This exchange aligns with the modernization and internationalization strategies of both universities, fostering stronger and more sustainable academic networks.
