🌿 The Centre for GeoTechnologies hosts the workshop of the Tuscan Section of the Italian Botanical Society
San Giovanni Valdarno, 30-31 october 2025
On 30 and 31 October 2025, the Centre for GeoTechnologies of the University of Siena will host the workshop organised by the Tuscan Section of the Italian Botanical Society (SBI): two days of laboratory and seminar activities dedicated to students, PhD candidates and young researchers in the fields of botany and environmental sciences.
The initiative, which will take place in person at the CGT campus in San Giovanni Valdarno, will offer participants the opportunity to explore techniques for vegetation data analysis and management, as well as the most recent applications of remote sensing and digital tools for the study of vegetation and natural habitats.
Participation is free, upon registration, and open to a maximum of 40 participants.
The Centre for GeoTechnologies will also provide affordable on-site accommodation for participants wishing to stay overnight at the facility.
Through this event, the Centre for GeoTechnologies reaffirms its commitment to training and interdisciplinary research, offering facilities, expertise and resources to support initiatives of high scientific and educational value in the fields of Earth and environmental sciences.
📘 Programme overview
Thursday, 30 October
The morning will be dedicated to a practical workshop on vegetation data analysis led by L. Lazzaro, M. Calbi, E. Siccardi, S. Maccherini, and A. Coppi.
In the afternoon, a series of seminars on “Smart Botany”, moderated by Stefano Loppi, will introduce participants to the latest technological frontiers in botanical research.
Friday, 31 October
The final day will focus on data preparation activities and the drafting of a preliminary scientific article, followed by a closing discussion and farewell session.
