The CGT Structural Geology Laboratory applies the latest digital mapping, GPS positioning, and GIS techniques to geological and structural surveying and can build spatially coherent 2D and 3D structural models. The staff of the Structural Geology laboratory has worked on a wide range of projects, on all continents from Mediterranean, Saharan and South Saharan Africa, in South America, in Antarctica and on all structural levels from Precambrian basements to Tertiary roofs. In Italy, the team has produced geological mapping for the National Geological Survey and consulted for major infrastructure, oil and mining companies in every region from Sicily and Sardinia to the Alps. The main activities of the laboratory include the survey of geological, structural and thematic maps, the construction of structural models and the characterisation of rock masses.
